Author Guidelines

  1. Articles submitted to Basyfa Unity Journal (BUJ) must present the results of research in the fields of social sciences, humanities, education, and religion.

  2. Articles may be written in Indonesian or English. Articles written in English must be accompanied by a certified translation proof from a credible institution. If written in Indonesian, a translation fee will be charged.

  3. The manuscript must use Cambria font (for headings), size 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, printed on A4 paper, with a length of 15–25 pages.

  4. The names of all authors should be listed without academic titles, placed below the article title, along with correspondence email, institution name, and institutional address. Authors must provide an active email address for communication. The title, author(s), and affiliation must appear on the first page, followed by an abstract (75–200 words) and 3–5 keywords. The article structure should follow this order: Title, Author, Affiliation, Address, Correspondence Email, Abstract, Keywords.

  5. Articles must follow the essay format in either Indonesian or English. The article title should be printed in uppercase, center-aligned, using 14 pt font size. Headings within the article must be styled as follows, without using numbers:

    • Level 1: ALL CAPS, bold, aligned left

    • Level 2: Title Case, bold, aligned left

    • Level 3: Title Case, bold-italic, aligned left

  6. The systematic structure of a research article includes: title; author’s name (without academic title); abstract (objectives, methods, results); keywords; introduction (background, literature review, research purpose); methods; results and discussion; conclusion; references.

  7. References must come from reputable international scientific articles, with a minimum of 20 references.

  8. Citation format should follow author-date style, e.g., (Davis, 2003).

  9. The reference list should be arranged alphabetically and chronologically, following the APA Style. Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley or Zotero.

  10. Quotation, referencing, table, and image formatting should follow Pedoman Penulisan Karya Ilmiah (Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat, 2022), or refer to formatting used in published BUJ articles. Articles written in Indonesian must follow the Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia (PUEBI). English articles should use standard academic English.

  11. All submitted manuscripts are subject to anonymous peer review by reviewers selected by the editor based on subject expertise. Authors will be given the opportunity to revise the manuscript based on reviewer/editor suggestions. Final decisions regarding acceptance or rejection will be communicated via email.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
